# Can a lady slaughter her qurbani herself ?

## Question

Is it permissible for a woman to personally perform the act of slaughtering an animal for the purpose of qurbani (religious sacrifice)? What are the religious guidelines and cultural practices regarding this matter?

## Answer / Fatwa Ruling

According to Islamic teachings, a woman is permitted to personally slaughter her own Qurbani (Uluhiyyah animal) during the designated time of Eid al-Adha. Islamic jurisprudence allows women to slaughter the animal. However, it is best to have a male slaughterer instead of a female.
